A Boy Finds Treasure in His Ear
May 8th, 2007 by Alex

“Snapple, Crack, Pop.†That’s how a little boy described the noises that were coming from his ear. He had a severe earache and for two days straight, he had weird noises were coming out of his ear.The boy is 9 years old and is named Jesse Courtney. After several days of pain, his parents finally decided to take him to the nurse. The first thing the nurses did was flush his ears out. What came out was not just simple ear wax but something much more alive…
Just like the song “Itsy Bitsy Spider,†2 spiders came out when the water washed the ear out. One of them was already dead, but the other one was still alive desperately trying to get out. Experts say that the spider was probably feeding on his ear wax. Sure enough, after the spiders were out, his earache also went out. Now, the boy has the spiders put into a container filled with water. One of them floating, he calls it “floaty.†The other one is on the bottom of the container and he calls it “drowny.†The two spiders were about the size of a tip of an eraser and weren’t poisonous.
After getting the spiders out, it was not just his earache that was affected. Now he wants his friends to call him “Spiderman Junior.†He is not sure how the spiders got into his ear, but they most likely got in when he was sleeping on his top bunk. Ever since this incident, he has avoided sleeping on the top bunk. From ear wax to spiders, random objects that collect into our ears will never cease to amaze us.

Wow that is disgusting, but at the same time fascinating.
Definately wierd, I have never seen anything like that before.
What!? Yeuch! I get upset when even something as a mosquito gets inside my ear, as an accident, how could he live with two spiders for two days?
I too had a live spider in my ear. This happened just this week. I started hearing gurgling and cracking on Thursday morning but it stopped. So I went out and played 18 holes of golf and on my way home it started again. I went directly to my audiologist. I was so freaked out when the audiologist told me a bug was in my ear…he didn’t want to tell me a spider. I went directly to the ear specialist and he flushed it out with alcohol. He said in all his 20 yrs of practice he had never seen this. The attending nurse really freaked. I had been working outside Sunday through Tuesday in some brush. I figure it got in at that time. It is just totally creepy!!!! I hate spiders anyway, I get crawley just thinking about it!
