A Headless Species of Snakes Found
Aug 10th, 2007 by Alex
WASHINGTON- A new species of headless snakes has been found in Washington. There has never been anything like it before discovered in nature. Even though the species doesn’t have a head, it can still survive in the wild by hunting. The species have been declared as extremely rare and are a mutated form of the common rattlesnake. Scientists have captured some of these snakes to study them.
“I was just waterin’ my plants like I always do,†Mike Reed, the farmer that discovered the species, reported. “I saw somethin’ move in one of my plants. I thought it was a snake that lost his head and went to pick it up. It started slithering and bit me. The pain was immense, and I screamed my lungs out.â€
Mark had to be transferred to a local hospital to treat the wound. Apparently, the species uses its ultra sensitive skin in place of eyes and have poisonous fangs. Research done on the snake has shown that the snake can detect the presence of an animal three miles away.
“This species is amazing!†Richard Greene, biologist that is studying the species, commented. “People have though that eyes were really important. What if we could give blind people really sensitive skin like the snake?â€
Even though it doesn’t have a head, it shares all the other characteristics of a normal snake. It has a regular diet of mice and other small animals, and has the ability to camouflage. The only thing left to do is name this special species.
“Ima name it Earl. The Earl species named after a cool trucker that I know.†Mike Reed said.
