Fish Contaminates Water System in Baghdad
Aug 2nd, 2007 by Alex

BAGHDAD- A fish has gotten into Baghdad’s water system. Officials have located the now dead fish. However, the fish produced enough algae to contaminate the whole water system. How the fish managed to get into the water system remains a mystery. The whole water system has been shut off making locals go without running water in the blistering summer heat.
“I was taking a sip of my sink water, when I spat it out. It tasted like rotten eggs mixed with sweat. I took a closer look to see green stuff in my drink.†Zyon Maheed said. He was one of the first to contact authorities about the problem.
Locals are suffering dearly from this incident. Although the water system has been shut off, there is still tap water that comes from nearby ponds that is contaminated with bacteria.
“My kids now have constipation from drinking the smelly tap water even after boiling it. We still have to keep drinking it though, because we are not rich enough to buy bottled water.†Jamil Kahn, a retired teacher, told reporters.
Many theories have already been developed including that the fifty year old water pump was not clearly sealed, and the fish happened to find its way in there.
“Stuff like this happens because of the poor government. Proper water pump investigation is essential but is now a luxury due to the ongoing war, Maxiel Gibson, an economist said. “These kinds of things happen in the United States too. Take the recent bridge collapse in Minnesota. Due to tax reductions, the government had to cut maintaining the bridge.â€
As the scorching temperatures continue to rise, the locals are getting creative to keep cool. People have started sleeping on their rooftops to avoid the heat, and a pool has been opened from donations.

How does a fish produce algae? Fish waste may provide nutrients to encourage algae growth, but I’m not aware of any fish that actually produce algae.
Additionally, algae is sometimes used in waste water treatment plants in order to reduce the amount of chemicals that would otherwise need to be used. A number of species of algae, including seaweed, are used as food and nutritive supplements, as they have a fair number of vitamins and minerals.
Oh I thought Algae was fishes’ poop. Oops, and I have writer’s block so I couldn’t think of anything else.
Well, if the fish ate a lot of algae…
Well I had some fishes at pets, and algae kept on growing so I assumed it was their poop
