“So the terrorists have struck here and here, and our troops are pushing from here. High casualties have been reported here due to the terrorist’s location. I think it would be wiser for us to strike from here.” The general was showing us the game plan on a blown up map of Baghdad.
The general had called us sergeants in to discuss the plan for the takeover of Baghdad. Things have been going well the first few days and the troops had secured most of the city. However, the hard part is towards the end, because the terrorists retreated into the mountains and rough terrain.
“I want your troops to strike from here using only infantry. Then, I will come from the other side with a full scale army.” The general continued.
The meeting lasted briefly. Each sergeant had their own orders and was expected to carry them out fully. The meeting was held at a local hotel, because we wanted nobody to suspect us here. Unfortunately, we were not stealthy enough.
Right as were about to leave the lobby, a man approached us.
“Whur do you head?” He asked in broken English.
“None of your business.” The general said as he sidestepped the man.
“CHRISTIANS SUCK!” The man suddenly ripped off his shirt revealing a bomb strapped onto his waist. I quickly pulled out my gun trying to kill him before he could activate the bomb, but it was too late. All I could do was touch the picture of my family in my wallet one more time as he ignited the bomb. I looked ahead to see the general and the other sergeants dissolve from the explosion. When the blast hit me, I felt immense pain for a second and then felt nothing at all. The hotel seemed to be dimming as the blackness sunk in until there was nothing. With my final breath, I managed to breathe out ‘I love you Rachel’ before collapsing.
