World Record Shattered: 95 Year Old Woman Completes College
Apr 27th, 2007 by Usman
Impossible, insane, incredible, what in the world? This is how people are reacting to Guinness’ newest broken world record. Some compare this miraculous feat to landing on the moon.
95 year old Nola Ochs will be graduating college next month, to shatter the previous world record of 90 held by Mozelle Richardson. She started enrolling in a community college after her husband had died in 1972. All those years, she spent time taking all sorts of classes. Students at the college describe her as smart, charming, and down to earth. Last year, she moved from her farm to finish the 30 hours needed to complete her degree. Still in shock? She is also going to graduate alongside her 21 year old granddaughter.
“How many people actually get a chance to hang out with their grandmothers? She’s really accepted by the other students,” her granddaughter said reflecting on going to college with her grandmother. “They enjoy her, but probably not as much as I do.”
The only question unanswered is why? “I don’t dwell on my age. It might limit what I can do. As long as I have my mind and health, it’s just a number,” Nola said. Besides going to college, she has also out-lived all of her sons and daughters and has 13 grandchildren with 15 great grandchildren.
After graduating, she wants to take even more classes at the college. Her future plan job plan is a storyteller on a ship. That job would definetly fit her personality. This story proves that learning is in fact a lifelong process.

I have to say, I’m suprised there’s actually a record for this. Still, it is amazing how so can still think that well at 95.
Pwhh… I’m sorry but this woman is strange. People go in the college to get knowledge that would be useful in following life. And that woman has such small following life…
She is just waste her time, IMHO.
It seems to me like the smart thing to do. I mean, what else are you going to do at age 90? knit? it seems like going to collage (without the pressure of having to graduate in a hurry or get a 4.0) would be very fun and enlightening. Learning can be fun
especially without the pressure.
Well if you are in college at 90, I think it would be pretty hard. You have to read, write, and work, which frankly, is tough for someone who can barely walk.
Wow that is pretty amazing. I didn’t think people actually went to College at that age. It must have been hard to finish at such an old age.
